Ugh. Today has been wild. Let's see, where to start. This morning Meredith took off all her clothes and pooped in the floor, but just a little bit. Some of it came out before she made it to the potty, but when I looked in the toilet the rest was in there.
I went into Natalie's room and found the girls lying next to each other, face to face, singing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star as loud as they could, then giggling hysterically. I started tickling them at the same time. They would stick their feet up and say, "Tickle my feet! Tickle my arm! Tickle my other arm! Tickle my knees!" so I'd tickle them and they'd squeak and giggle. I thought if there's one thing I wish I could always remember about my girls at this age, it would be their high-pitched, squeaky laughs.
Then this afternoon Natalie brought me two diapers and told me which one she wanted to wear. She had pooped her diaper and I didn't realize it until I opened it. It looked like a clump of green and brown playdoh. I couldn't find the wipes so I told her to be still, which she's actually usually good at during changes, and I went to the bathroom to get some toilet paper. I cleaned her off and about freaked because she DID move and there was a little piece on my new quilt. I got her up and cleaned off the quilt when she said, "Ow!" and rubbed her head. I looked and the HUGE piece of poop was in her hair! I could NOT get it out because it was just like playdoh! I tried getting a wet wipe (that I found after the change, of course), then I hung her head over he sink and hoped the wet would make it let go of her head. I got most of it out but had to scrub her head in the bath to get the rest.
After her bath, Natalie needed her bangs cut, so she got a trim, and even painted nails! So poop in the hair equals a makeover.
Ryan and Colby came home after work and school. We had dinner and the kids were playing with a bowling ball and pins afterward. Somehow a fight broke out and Meredith lost, but not before getting a bloody nose. The story goes that she hit Colby in the stomach, so Colby threw either the ball or a pin and hit her in the face. Much punishment and conversation was doled out to all involved. Also, Meredith got a dose of Tylenol and her nose has bled a little off and on but she seems to have things under control.
Ryan came into the bedroom a few minutes ago and said there was poop on the wall in the hallway.
Meredith asked if I would dry her hair. She's obsessed with Tangled and wants to be Rapunzel. While I was brushing her hair she was saying something. I asked her what she said and she said she was just singing. So while I dried her hair, she sang like Rapunzel did every time she got her hair brushed. I love that little girl and her imagination.
Tonight Shirley had her baby on Community, and it's Michael Scott's last night on The Office.
I'm ready for bed.

CH-CH-Changes
Well, looks like Ryan is going to grad school. He found out he was accepted a couple of weeks ago into the Social Work program. He starts this fall. Not quite sure what he'll be taking or his schedule for anything, but at least we know he got in, which is not surprising. While Ryan could have easily gotten into grad school in who knows how many programs, social work is practically begging people to apply, especially men, so there was never a question of if in my mind.
Also, it looks like I'll be making my trek back to China in the fall. For those that don't know, I taught English as a second language to some university students in Asia last fall. I'm planning on going back again in September pending my finances come in. SO!! If anyone is interested in sending me money to pay for my $2,200 plane tickets and food bill, feel free to email me! I can let you know any details about my trip that you'd like, as well as how you can make a donation to the Help Vanessa Go To China Again fund. It's tax deductible!!
Nothing exciting with the kids today. Meredith, Natalie, and I spent about an hour in the kids' bathroom during a storm watching Tangled. No tornadoes, but if anything, it kept the girls still for an extended period of time, which doesn't happen often during the day, so there was a positive.

So we have a mouse. Ryan saw it tonight. I know because while I was working on our Sunday school lesson for tomorrow, I heard him scream like a little girl in the kitchen, then he came in the bedroom and said, "I saw the mouse." He then asked what he should do, so I told him to let the cat in. He tried coaching the cat to follow the mouse which went under the sink, but the cat was preoccupied with getting food in its dish. Not that our cat won't work for its own food, but I don't think it and Ryan are on the same wave length.

Today the kids were playing outside with Ryan while I was fixing dinner, and Ryan informed me that the girls had been playing with a worm. He said Meredith told him the worm was taking a nap, however, he said it was going to be a long nap for the worm, haha!
Later, when dinner was finished, I was talking to Natalie about wiggly worms and she said, "Yeah, worms," and started to squirm while I was holding her. Then Meredith joined in and said, "It wiggled like this!" She stuck out her bottom and wiggled back and forth. Ryan asked her what the worm was doing and she confirmed the nap story. I imagine it will still be on the truck when I leave for work in the morning.

Whenever candy comes into the house, we have learned that the only safe place to keep it, the only place out of reach, is on a shelf mounted to the wall about 5 1/2 feet above the floor in our bathroom. This doesn't mean that attempts haven't been made to get to it, it's just that until now, none have been successful. Hence the reason I looked in the bathroom and found Natalie in this predicament.

This is Natalie on a chair, on top of her potty/step stool trying to reach the candy in our bathroom. Inventive, to say the least. And yes, I did leave her there until I had time to take her picture. I knew it would last longer than any bruises, haha!!

Tonight Meredith said she wanted to sleep in Natalie's bed. When I went to lay Natalie down after she fell asleep in my bed, Meredith said, "Mom, I'm hot. Turn off the heat." I'm pretty sure she was talking about the fan that was running. Less than five minutes after I left her room, Ryan walked past her door and she called him in. She said, "Dad, turn off that fan. I'm cold!" That girl is so fickle!
Also, tonight was Colby's second baseball practice. He's looking pretty good, and so far he's really enjoying it! Baseball is probably one of my least enjoyed sports, but I guess I can learn to tolerate it.

This morning Meredith came up to Natalie, who was in my lap, and said, "I love you, Natalie," to which Natalie replied, "I love you, Meredith." Then Meredith gently rubbed Natalie's cheek, and both started gingerly rubbing the other's hands and cheeks. Meredith said, "Mom and Dad and Colby and Meredith always take care of Natalie and babies and rub them with baby lotion." She then tried to get Nat to go to the bathroom where they could find some lotion but I talked them out of it.

Well, I've decided to make yet another attempt at keeping up with this blog, however, I'm taking a different approach. I've downloaded an app on my phone and intend on posting snippets as they happen during the day. The kids are so hilarious these days and I'm constantly found in these moments that I want to remember from their childhood, the spices of life, so I downloaded a different app to keep up with their cute little quips. I then noticed an app that would post these quips to my blog, and here we are. So... Wish me luck! Here are some snippets I've collected so far:

Today Colby and meredith played batman and robin. Meredith prissed around like an actual bird on her toes. They were quiet and sweet and they played :)
Natalie blows raspberries on Ryans belly. Also, I pretend to pat her after a drink of juice and say, 'burp the baby.' she pretends to burp, lol! It's hilarious!

Colby: I want new shoes.
Me: get a job.
Colby: I have a job. I do laundry.
Me: I mean a professional job.
Colby: What's a professional job?
Me: Not a chore, a job outside the home.
Colby: I hang up clothes outside (on the line)!

Kids' musical was last night. Meredith danced and waved thru her entire time in stage. She is so adorable! Everyone thought she was :) That's my girl!
Colby did great in his first full length musical! He sang and did motions. He wasn't perfect, but still great. I'm so proud of him!!
